Even more bad news for people with MS who smoke

This study that followed 200 people with MS for about two and a half years found that smoking was associated with faster progression. And the more packs smoked per year by a person, the higher their risk of progression was. (Smoking was not associated with greater relapse rate, though.) As hard as it is to quit smoking (and it's probably even harder when dealing with a chronic disease), maybe the chance of slowing down loss of function will provide extra motivation to cut back or kick the habit.
