Volunteer Initiatives, Expansion Teams, & Family Funds

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that is a national (and world-wide) problem. Because it affects people everywhere, it also becomes a local problem everywhere. It not only affects the person who has MS, but also their family and loved ones.

Many of our supporters view MS as affecting them primarly at one of these levels - national, local, or family - so we have set up a number of ways to support our cause in a manner that reflects these different views. Large foundations and corporations like to support a nationally recognizable name while individuals often wish to show their support through an effort that reflects local or family ties.

We launched our organization in 2001 as the Boston Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis. In 2005 we begin a formal program of national awareness using the Accelerated Cure Project name as our national "umbrella" name. While keeping the Boston Cure Project as national headquarters and the New England affiliate, we are reaching out to set up other regional affiliates around the country. This effort is being supported by a partnership with the John Hancock Long Term Care Group.

Previously we had also begun a program of named funds to address more personal efforts. These efforts are part of our Expansion Team Program and they are often done in the name of a particular person or family.

All of these efforts benefit the same work - our mission to cure Multiple Sclerosis by determining its causes.
